Overview

The Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses Association (PaNGONA) is pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for its 1st National Oncology Nursing Conference, to be held from 16–18 December 2026 at the prestigious APEC Haus, Port Moresby.

This landmark event will bring together oncology nurses, clinicians, educators, researchers, policymakers, and healthcare leaders to share best practices, evidence-based research, and innovations in cancer care. The conference aims to strengthen the oncology nursing profession through collaboration, leadership, and education, shaping the future of cancer care in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region.

Conference Subthemes

Abstracts are invited under the following subthemes:

  1. Cancer Prevention and Early Detection

  2. Advances in Oncology Nursing Practice

  3. Palliative and Supportive Care

  4. Leadership and Workforce Development

  5. Oncology Nursing Education and Research

  6. Psychosocial and Cultural Dimensions of Cancer Care

  7. Innovation, Technology, and Digital Health in Oncology Nursing

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.

  • Each submission must include: Title, Author(s), Institutional Affiliation, Contact Email, and Presentation Type (Oral or Poster).

  • Abstracts should be written in clear and concise English, aligning with one of the conference subthemes.

  • Submissions must represent original work relevant to oncology nursing practice, education, leadership, or research.

  • The Scientific Committee reserves the right to select and allocate abstracts to oral or poster sessions.
