WHO WE ARE
Leadership and Governance of PaNGONA
The Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses Association (PaNGONA) is guided by a strong leadership and governance structure that upholds integrity, accountability, and transparency in all its operations. The association is governed by an Executive Committee, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, supported by Advisory Boards and Standing Committees responsible for communication, research, training and education, events, and fundraising.
PaNGONA’s governance framework ensures that strategic decisions are made collaboratively and ethically, aligning with the association’s mission to empower oncology nurses through education, research, and leadership. Each leader within PaNGONA is committed to advancing professional nursing standards, promoting collaboration with national and international partners, and ensuring that every activity contributes meaningfully to improved cancer care in Papua New Guinea.
Regional Coordinators and Special Interest Group Leaders further strengthen governance by representing the diverse needs of nurses across the country’s four regions — Highlands, Momase, Southern, and New Guinea Islands.
Through this inclusive leadership model, PaNGONA remains accountable to its members and stakeholders, ensuring effective management, continuity, and sustainability. The association’s leadership reflects its values of unity, collaboration, and growth, fostering a transparent and forward-thinking organization that represents the voice of oncology nurses nationwide.
