Membership Categories

When applying for membership with the Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses Association (PaNGONA), applicants are asked to select the category that best represents their professional role or affiliation. Each category has a corresponding membership fee, which supports the association’s programs, professional development initiatives, and advocacy activities.

  1. Registered Nurse (Cancer) – For nurses currently practicing in cancer care. Membership fee: K100.00.

  2. Registered Nurse (Non-Cancer) – For nurses practicing outside oncology but interested in supporting or advancing cancer care. Membership fee: K100.00.

  3. Community Health Worker (CHW) – For community-based health workers engaged in patient education, cancer awareness, or related support services. Membership fee: K80.00.

  4. Doctor (Oncology) – For physicians specializing in oncology, contributing to multidisciplinary cancer care teams. Membership fee: K150.00.

  5. Doctor (Non-Oncology) – For physicians in other specialties who collaborate with oncology teams or support cancer care initiatives. Membership fee: K120.00.

  6. Medical Students (Oncology/Non-Oncology) – For students enrolled in medical programs with interest in oncology or healthcare advocacy. Membership fee: K90.00.

  7. Nursing Students (Cancer) – For student nurses specializing in oncology or intending to pursue a career in cancer care. Membership fee: K60.00.

  8. Nursing Students (Non-Cancer) – For students in nursing programs who are interested in learning about oncology nursing. Membership fee: K50.00.

  9. Radiation Therapists / Medical Physicists – For professionals supporting oncology treatment through radiation therapy or clinical physics. Membership fee: K120.00.

  10. Social Workers – For professionals providing psychosocial support to patients and families affected by cancer. No membership fee (K0.00).

  11. Chaplains – For spiritual care providers who assist cancer patients and families. No membership fee (K0.00).

  12. Honorary Members – For individuals recognized for exceptional contribution to oncology nursing or cancer care in PNG. No membership fee (K0.00).

  13. Associates (Public Sector) – For professionals working in government or public health institutions who support oncology initiatives. Membership fee: K70.00.

  14. Associates (Private Sector) – For professionals in private institutions or organizations who collaborate with or support oncology nursing programs. Membership fee: K70.00.

Selecting the appropriate membership category ensures that members receive relevant benefits, updates, and opportunities aligned with their professional background and contribution to cancer care. Fees collected are reinvested into PaNGONA’s training programs, research initiatives, conferences, and advocacy efforts, strengthening the oncology nursing community in Papua New Guinea.
