PaNGONA Mourns the Loss of Papua New Guinea Music Icon Daniel Bilip
Port Moresby, PNG – The Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses’ Association (PaNGONA) mourns the passing of one of the nation’s most beloved and influential musicians, Mr. Daniel Bilip, who succumbed to mouth cancer on 11th October 2025. His death marks a profound loss not only to the Papua New Guinean music industry but also to the wider community that his artistry touched.
Mr. Bilip was a household name, celebrated for his powerful voice, creative compositions, and lyrical storytelling that captured the culture, resilience, and aspirations of Papua New Guineans. Over his career, he inspired a generation of musicians and audiences alike, bridging communities through music and using his platform to promote national identity and cultural pride. His dedication to his craft made him a shining example of talent, creativity, and commitment.
PaNGONA President, Mr. Peter Fore, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating:
"Daniel Bilip’s passing is a significant loss to PNG and the music fraternity. Beyond his extraordinary artistic talent, his courage in facing cancer with dignity reminds us all of the importance of health awareness, early detection, and compassionate care for those battling life-threatening illnesses. His legacy, through both his music and his bravery, will continue to inspire and unite our nation."
As a professional association committed to supporting cancer patients and raising awareness across Papua New Guinea, PaNGONA recognizes the significance of Mr. Bilip’s journey. His battle with mouth cancer highlights the urgent need for education on cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and accessible treatment for all Papua New Guineans.
