    The CNSA–ICCN 2025 Combined Conference, co-hosted by the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) and the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC), brought together more than 1,150 oncology and cancer nursing professionals from over 30 countries for an inspiring global congress focused on advancing cancer care through evidence, education, and collaboration.

    This year’s theme — “Global Voices, Local Actions: From Inspiration to Implementation” — called on cancer nurses worldwide to bridge global insights with practical, community-driven actions that strengthen cancer care delivery in every setting.

    🔍 Conference Highlights

    Pre-Congress Symposium (18 June): Focused on workforce resilience, nurse-led innovation, and building the future oncology workforce.

    Plenary and Parallel Sessions: Featured experts discussing genomics, lung cancer screening, survivorship, palliative care, advocacy, and workforce development.

    Poster and Oral Presentations: Showcased research and innovations on equity, digital health, supportive care, and nurse-led interventions.

    Awards and Recognition: Distinguished leaders, including Prof. Annie Young and Cecilia Peña, were honoured for their contributions to global cancer nursing.

    Global Participation: Nurses from low- and middle-income countries received travel grants, ensuring that diverse voices contributed to global dialogue.

    💜 Papua New Guinea’s Representation

    The Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses Association (PaNGONA) was proudly represented at this international event. Mr. Peter Fore, RN, President of PaNGONA, presented an abstract highlighting the growth, challenges, and resilience of oncology nursing in Papua New Guinea. His presentation emphasized the importance of collaboration, training, and leadership development to strengthen the cancer nursing workforce across the Pacific.

    Through participation in this landmark conference, PaNGONA reaffirmed its commitment to aligning with global standards of cancer nursing care while driving local innovation to meet the unique needs of patients and communities in Papua New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses’ Association (PaNGONA)

The Papua New Guinea Oncology Nurses’ Association (PaNGONA) is the leading professional body representing oncology nurses across Papua New Guinea. Established to connect, unite, and empower cancer nurses, PaNGONA is dedicated to advancing oncology nursing through education, research, leadership, and advocacy.

PaNGONA supports its members by providing access to specialized training, professional development opportunities, and platforms for knowledge sharing.
